What to Expect

At this time, masking and distancing are not required at any of our worship services, classes, or gatherings.  Many of our Bible studies are available via Zoom and our Worship Service is available on-line Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. (faithlutheransiouxfalls.org).

Parking is available in the lot on the East and North sides of Faith's facility. The main entrances to the building are on the East and South sides. If the parking lot is full, many worshipers also park along 4th Street or French Avenue.

Does it matter what I wear? Come as you are! While some worshipers prefer to dress in more formal attire, others dress more casually.

Worship at Faith is vibrant. Most services follow the orders of worship in Lutheran Service Book or Creative Worship. The order of service is printed out in its entirety and you can find a copy of the latest worship folder on the website homepage scrolling banner or in the "Worship Resources" section. We are a congregation that values our Lutheran liturgical heritage, yet we also recognize that our Lord continues to inspire people through His Word and Spirit to compose Biblical & God-pleasing songs of faith. Some of Faith's music is "blended" in content - this is especially the case on the third weekend of most months. Faith is also blessed with a variety of talented pianists, organists, vocalists, and other instrumentalists who accompany our worship or provide special music.

Children are welcome in all worship services! We love their background noises and believe it's important for children to learn to worship by participating with their families. We provide children's coloring bulletins and activity bags to keep little hands occupied. Our pastors share children's messages on most Sundays to share God's Word with our younger worshipers. An un-staffed nursery is available just outside the worship space in which parents can hear the audio of the service.

As Lutheran Christians, we celebrate the Lord's Supper (Holy Communion) regularly.   The Lord's Supper is celebrated in all weekend services on the second, fourth, and fifth weekends of the month. As a congregation of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod (LCMS), we practice Close Communion, meaning that confirmed members of other LCMS congregations are welcome at the Lord's Table. Faith provides the options of gluten-free bread and alcohol-free win.  A final word for visitors: it is very helpful if you introduce yourself to a pastor or an elder (identified with name tags) prior to a service before receiving the Lord's Supper. Please read additional information about our communion practice below. Thank you!

What about Close Communion?   At first, our practice of Close Communion might seem "standoffish," but that is certainly not the intent.  Instead, we celebrate the Lord's Supper in the confidence that, as our Lord Jesus says, He gives into our mouths not only bread and wine, but His true body and blood to eat and drink for the forgiveness of our sins, the strengthening of our faith, and the solidifying of our union with Him and with one another. Our Lord invites to His table those who trust His words, repent of all sins, and set aside any refusal to forgive and love as He forgives and loves us, so that our lives may proclaim His death until He comes again. Because those who eat and drink our Lord's body and blood unworthily do so to their spiritual harm, and because participating in Holy Communion is a confession of faith,  any who are not yet instructed, are in doubt, or who hold a confession differing from that of Faith Lutheran Church should speak with the pastor before communing. Guests and visitors are welcome to come forward and receive a blessing from the pastor, even if they will not be receiving the Lord's Supper. Click here to read Faith's communion statement.
