March 5 - "The Liar and the Man of Dust

Sermon Texts: Genesis 3:1-21 and Matthew 4:1-11

Ash Wednesday 2017

This Ash Wednesday sermon begins our series, "The Art of Living by Faith." This sermon focuses on the story of Jesus' last days, the story of the Reformation, and God's promises to awaken and strengthen our faith in Christ.

Feb 26 - "Eyewitnesses of His Majesty"

This sermon for the Sunday of Jesus' Transfiguration is based on 2 Peter 1:16-18: "For we did not follow cleverly devised myths when we made know to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For when he received honor and glory from God the Father and the voice was borne to Him by the Majestic Glory, 'This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased,' we ourselves heard this very voice borne from heaven, for we were with Him on the holy mountain."

Feb 12 - "Rest for the Weary"

Rev. Dr. Bob Heckmann served as our guest preacher this weekend. His sermon is based on the following passages:

Deuteronomy 30:19-20 - "This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses aginst you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and He will give you many years in the land He swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

Matthew 11:28-30 - "Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

Galatians 5:1 - "For it is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

Feb 5 - 'Nothing' means Everything!

The sermon is based on 2 Corinthians 2:1-12, especially v. 2. The paradox is that the "nothing" that Paul speaks of in this passage means everything to us as God's people!

Thank you for listening!

Jan 29 - "Boasting in the Lord"

Pastor Aker's sermon is based on the Epistle Reading, 1 Corinthians 1:18-31, especially v. 31: "Therefore, let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord."
